How many types of cooling fan bearings are there?
Case Details
The advantages and disadvantages of the bearing system have a great influence on the performance and service life of the cooling fan. A good bearing system can make the fan rotate more smoothly and quietly, reduce energy consumption and noise, and improve heat dissipation efficiency.

The types of cooling fan bearing systems are usually ball bearings and liquid bearings.

1.Cooling fan ----
Sleeve bearing

Sleeve bearing is currently the most commonly used cooling fan bearing. It uses lubricating oil as a lubricant and drag reducer, which has the advantages: the price is very low, and the operating noise is relatively low in the initial use. Disadvantages: bearings are easy to wear and have a short life. In addition, this bearing is used for a long time, and the lubricating oil in the bearing sleeve is easy to leak out, the noise will increase, and it will contaminate other accessories.

2. Cooling fan ---- Hydraulic bearings

Hydraulic bearings are improved on the basis of oil-impregnated bearings. The hydraulic bearing adopts a unique ring oil supply circuit, which greatly reduces the problem of oil leakage, and the life is greatly extended than that of ordinary oil-impregnated bearings, and inherits the advantages of oil-impregnated bearings: the running noise is small, the working noise of the hydraulic bearing fan is significantly reduced, and the service life is also very long, which can reach 40,000 hours. Hydraulic bearings are still essentially oil-impregnated bearings. However, this improved life is greatly extended than ordinary oil-sealed bearings, and inherits the advantages of oil-impregnated bearings - low running noise.

3. Cooling fan ---- One Ball Bearing

ONE Ball Bearing or Ball + Sleeve Bearing are an improvement on traditional oil-impregnated bearings, using a mixture of sliding friction and rolling friction, and using one ball bearing + one oil-impregnated bearing to reduce the cost of double ball bearings. The advantages of oil-impregated bearings and double ball bearings are combined, but the disadvantage is that after adding the balls, the running noise is increased, but it is still less than that of double ball bearings.

4. Cooling fan ---- Double ball bearing

Dual Ball Bearing or Two Ball Bearing uses two ball bearings, using rolling friction instead of traditional sliding friction, so the friction is small, no lubricating oil, and there is no oil leakage problem. Its advantages are: very long service life, good anti-aging performance, suitable for fans with higher speeds. The disadvantages are high manufacturing costs and the greatest noise.

5. Cooling fan ---- Hypro Bearing

Fluid protection system bearing (Hypro Bearing) its name comes from HY (Hydrodynamic wave) PRO (Oil protection system), which is a patented product of ADDA, a well-known radiator and fan design manufacturer, and is also based on traditional oil-impregnated bearings for a number of improvements. Fluid protection system bearings and hydraulic bearings are the same, and each design adopts some unique improvements, but the essence is the same circulating oil circuit system, and the performance in all aspects is basically the same. Usually the product life can reach more than 50,000 hours.

6. Cooling fan ---- Rifle Bearing

Rifle Bearing is mainly used for cooling fans in CoolerMaster, and is also an improvement over traditional oil-impregnated bearings. Lyft bearings are made of wear-resistant materials for high oil content hollow bearings and also have shaft cores with spiral grooves and oil baffles. When the fan is running, the lubricating oil in it will form a backflow, thus avoiding oil leakage problems and minimizing operating noise.

7. Cooling fan---- Magnetic Bearing

Magnetic Bearing's motor has a magnetic levitation (Magnetic System, MS) design, its magnetic induction line and the magnetic levitation line is perpendicular, so the shaft core and the magnetic levitation line are parallel, so the weight of the rotor is fixed on the running track, using the almost unloaded shaft core to the direction of the anti-magnetic levitation line to support the formation of the entire rotor suspended, on the fixed running track. Therefore, magnetic levitation is actually only an auxiliary function, not an independent bearing form, and the specific application must be combined with other bearing forms, such as magnetic levitation + ball bearings, magnetic levitation + oil-impregnated bearings, magnetic levitation + vaporized bearings and so on. This technology has not been recognized by European and American countries.

8. Cooling fan ----VAPO Bearing

VAPO Bearing is improved by Sunon magnetic levitation technology, that is, the hardness of the bushing of oil-impregnated bearings is strengthened, and special materials are used, and the inner surface is also specially processed, so as to overcome the shortcomings of oil-impregnated bearings that are not resistant to high temperatures, and then cooperate with magnetic levitation technology, which greatly extends the service life.

9. Cooling Fan - NANO Ceramic Bearing, NCB

NANO Ceramic Bearing, NCB, which is still essentially an oil-impregnated bearing, was first introduced by Foxconn in its products. The traditional oil-impregnated bearing fan is more seriously worn during use, and the reliability is low when used for a long time. Nano bearings effectively overcome this problem: ceramic bearing technology uses special polymer materials and special additives to fully fuse, the bearing core is fully made of special opale dioxide materials, made of punching die and sintering process, crystal particles from the past 60um to 0.3um, with strong, smooth, wear-resistant and other characteristics. Nano ceramic bearings have strong high temperature resistance, not easy to volatilize, which greatly prolongs the service life of the fan, the properties of nano bearings are similar to ceramics, the more grinded, the smoother. According to tests, the average service life of fans using nano-ceramic bearings is more than 150,000 hours. This technology is not really nanotechnology, and the materials used are not really nanoscale materials, but just use words like nano to attract attention.
